1. SIMPLE MAJORITY : The decision is made by choosing a solution that is acceptable to more than half of the entire group, with each person having equal power (one person, one vote).
2. SUPER MAJORITY : The decision is made by choosing a solution that is acceptable to more than two-thirds or three-fourths of the entire group, with each person having equal power (one person, one vote).
The procedures analyst may be thinking, âCan a cross-functional team that focuses on the development of policies and procedures make all its own decisions, or does the team have to involve other approvals?â This question cannot be answered easily. Any decision about how to conduct a team meeting, how to brainstorm, how to select and diagram a solution, or how to write a policy or procedure document will normally fall on the shoulders of the cross-functional team. There are also a number of decisions that might come up during team meetings that should be made by senior management or as a joint decision. There are two categories of decisions: senior management decisions and team decisions. There could be a third category for a joint decision between senior management and the team, but since senior management usually has the final say, I did not include it as a category.
